The Rathdrum Fuel Depot
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) has proposed to build a 500,000 gallon diesel fueling depot at Hauser, Idaho. The fuel tanks will sit directly on top of the Spokane-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, Spokane's drinking water supply. Idaho state law does not require an environmental impact statement. No public analysis has been done to assess the risks of this proposal, or whether there may be more suitable locations. BNSF has had numerous train accidents, derailments, fuel leaks, and other safety problems. Are you concerned about the impacts this proposal might have on your drinking water?
